Is Your Website So Last Year?
As business owners, we ask ourselves on a daily basis (or should be asking) if we are keeping up with all the right marketing trends. In the fog of posting, liking, tweeting and sharing, what is often forgotten in a good marketing plan is the importance of keeping your website up to date. If you have been living under a rock, we should tell you that Google needs your website to be responsive. That means as smartphone and tablet usage continues to rise, your website needs to be mobile and tablet friendly. There are many things that you should continue to do to keep your site up to date. Here are a few things to consider:
Mobile appearance: Sure, your website was responsive, meaning it can be viewed easily on tablets and mobile phones. Don’t just make your site responsive. Make sure that you are using fonts and spacing that are easy to read on these devices as well.
Quicker load time: Creating the best customer experience is absolutely imperative for a good website! The last thing we want is for someone to find your website, only to learn that they left because they were tired of waiting for it to load. Ask a professional if this one is more difficult to tackle, but if you are dealing with slow load time, consider reviewing your hosting provider and package. You may be sharing server space with hundreds of other companies, seeing your load time slow down.
Customer Contact: Once a potential customer lands on your website, how easy is it for them to contact you? Do they have to search the site to find a phone number or a contact us form or are those easily available to them at any point on the site? Make it easy for them to ask questions and buy the product.
As much of our time at Post + Proper is spent consulting with clients on their own websites, it’s important that we practice what we preach. We know that we can always make improvements in our own business and our website!
